I watched a CreativeLive series with Andrew Scrivani and I was hooked on food photography.
I started studying other food photographers on Wonderful Machine, following instagram accounts, buying food and beverage magazines and pouring over content, context. I saw it all as portraiture, with food. I was hooked.
This wasn’t a hard interest to cultivate. I already enjoyed cooking. I was already a photographer. But my subjects up to this time were living, breathing … talking back. Food was … it just was. Although it required a new set of attention, it didn’t talk back.
